How “Sunshine in the Middle of the Night” was born.

Our daughter Cadance, was four years old and I was playing guitar for her before she went to sleep, singing “Scarborough Fair,” when she started a little poem. “Sunshine in the middle of the night,” she said. What about it, I asked. What happens when the sun shines in the middle of the night. The monsters she said. What do the monsters do? They play. And a simple D and C riff arose as she told a story about monsters and children who scare one another until they decide to make friends. This is one of the most cinematic of my songs, and it looks like it may be the soundtrack to the first video from my album.
